Alright I now have a 24" JGS actuator that needs a new reed sensor.  Problem is I don't know what sensor it takes.  It is a Cylindrical sensor but how do I know what type.  The old one came out in pieces and from what I could see it did not have a part number or any type of markings.  Does anyone know if it is a normally open or normally closed sensor.  I was going to try to use a sensor from a Venture actuator but it will not mount in the case.  If I was to backwoods engineer a way to mount the sensor would it work with the JGS.  The venture has a little magnetic wheel and the JGS has a big wheel with 3 magnets on it.

I'm not sure what alternative brand reed sensor would work on that JGS motor, but I did find this information on the company and if nobody else has any information you at least can call JGS (if they are still doing business).

Here's a universal sensor that fits several different brands

Might call them and see if it fits yours.  $30.00

I was afraid of that.  The venture actuator I have does not have full range motion.  It only moves a few inches and stops.  I tried forcing it and the shaft fitting that the motor fits into broke.  I came across this JGS actuator that is made out of aluminum and had is water tight.  Just the issue with the sensor that I hope to be able to overcome.

I edited my above post with a website with a sensor that might work, see if it looks like yours.
--------------------------------------------------------

To do a test on that Venture motor to see if its actually locked up you need to connect it to a car battery and see if it runs full travel both ways (reverse the wires on the battery).       If it works full travel on a car battery (it will be slow on only 12vdc but should still run) then that means your sensor was likely bad, a bad sensor will stop the dish motor when connected to your dish mover/receiver after 1-2 seconds and will usually put a (motor failure) warning on your tv.

finding the correct reed sensor is alot of pain.

I ended up ordering mine from Australia. every actuator seems to have a different type.

if you can get the number off it. do a search for the number and "fuse"

The picture of the reed sensor is what is in the Venture.  The on in the JGS is a cylinder around 3/16" in diameter and probably about 1/2" long. The gear with the magnets on it is approx 2" and has 3 magnets.

How about using some glue to put the reed sensor together and post a picture?

Here are some pictures.  This first picture is the outside case and the arrow is pointing to the hole the reed sensor goes into.  The next 2 pictures are of the inside and the arrows are pointing to where the reed sensor is in the inside.

I saw some cylinder shaped reed sensors yesterday when looking around online but i'd never seen one like that on a Satellite motor before, so I take it you have found what you want and bought one online?
